Mbale District

 

This district is located in Eastern Uganda. The population is estimated at about 330,000 and it is the second
or the third largest in Uganda. The main ethnic group is the Bamasaba or Bagisu.  The Islamic University in Uganda is based.
It is the station to Mount Elgon, whose height is around 4000 meters. Sipi falls, the most beautiful one in the
contry, lies near.  Sipi falls is one hour north from Mbale and a series of three waterfalls in the district of
Kapchorwa.
