Borders in Africa

Many of borders of current countries in Africa are simple straight lines, that doesn’t represent natural demarcations which separate by geographical features and ethnic and tribal ones.
They were the work by European colonial powers. Then, different ethnic groups and tribes got mixed and separated. Finally, many problems arose even after becoming independent.

 

Neighbor of Uganda: South Sudan

The South Sudan-Sudan border conflict is getting severe. In April, 2012, the air raids by Sudanese army took place on South Sudanese cities with casualties. United Nations Security Council called for the two countries
to cease the conflict immediately because it might be a full-scale war.

Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, is a center city of communication networks, finance and transportation in East Africa.  The port of Mombasa is the largest seaport in East Africa and important gate for countries of the
interior, linking them to the Ocean.
Kenya formed the East African Community (EAC) with Tanzania and Uganda for local economic growth,
for matter of tariff, migration of people and development of inflation.

 

Ethnic Religion in Uganda

Christianity came to Uganda in the 10th century and she became a Christian nation. Before that, original religions people practiced in were  Animism, animal worship where lions and other animals were regarded
as representaties of the deity, spiritual mediums, snake worship which is a survival of ancestor worship,
deity of rain, god of the underground, spiritual god (Katonda), and magic.  The majority practice in mediums.
Including Katonda, the creator god, they worship gods controlled by it.  King of Buganda was the high priest.

Ground transport in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has always been difficult.
The Terrain and climate of the Congo Basin present serious barriers to road and rail construction,
and the distances are enormous across the vast country.
Furthermore, chronic economic mismanagement and internal conflict has let to serious under-investment
over many years.

Cost of Living in Northern Uganda

For 96 percent of population in Northern Uganda, cost of living  is below 2400 yen per day.
The average yearly income for a person is $300 in Uganda. It is only 2500 yen
if we consider one dollar as 100 yen.
In urban cities, income of the drink manufacture is just 5000 yen per month and it is 10000 yen per month
for a social worker.
Prices are widely different in local commodities and imported ones.
Beef: 31,000Ush /6kg * about 15 yen per one gram
Rice: 103,000Ush / 50kg  * about 61 yen per one kilo gram
Cooking oil: 63,000Ush / 20l
Tomato (a bag of tomato): 5,000Ush
Banana (about three bunches of bananas) : 5,000Ush
48 bottles of Pepsi Cola and others : 26,000Ush
